The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sets the age limit for air traffic controllers in the United States at 31 years old. This means that an individual must be hired as an air traffic controller before their 31st birthday in order to be eligible for the position. The FAA imposes this age limit to ensure that air traffic controllers are able to perform their duties for a sufficient number of years before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.
