The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation was founded by Allan Gray out of his dream to create a sustainable contribution to the country, by helping students who are the future entrepreneurs of Southern Africa.

ABOUT THE BURSARY
Bursaries will be awarded to students currently in Matric or first year of study, within the following fields of study:
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Humanities (majoring in: Economics/ Philosophy/ Politics)
- Law
- Science (excl Medicine)
Students must be study at one of the following recognised tertiary institutions:
- NMMU (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University)
- Rhodes University
- TSiBA
- UCT (University of Cape Town)
- UWC (University of the Western Cape)
- Stellenbosch University
- UJ (University of Johannesburg)
- UP (University of Pretoria)
- UFS (University of the Free State)
- WITS (University of Witwatersrand)
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- All students:
- South African citizen
- Believe in the future of South Africa
- Be an ambassador for the Foundation with strong leadership or entrepreneurial qualities
- Current Grade 12/ Matric students:
- No older than 21 years of age in year of application
- Achieved a minimum of level 5 (“C” symbol) for Mathematics in Grade 11
- Achieved a minimum of level 6 (“B” symbol) for overall results (excluding LO) in Grade 11
- Intend to study a degree in one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Intend to study at one of the aforementioned tertiary institutions
- Completed the National Benchmark Test by 30 September of the year of application
- Current 1st year tertiary students:
- In the first year of study in one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Studying at one of the aforementioned tertiary institutions
- No older than 22 years of age in year of application
- Achieved a minimum of 65% average in previous years June exams
- Current 2nd year tertiary student:
- Entrepreneurial flair
- In the second year of study in one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Studying at one of the aforementioned tertiary institutions
- No older than 23 years of age in year of application
- Achieved a minimum of 65% average in previous years end-of-year exams
- Achieved a minimum of 65% average in current years June exams
HOW TO APPLY

2nd year university students must request an application form by emailing: datacentre@allangrayorbis.org (with the words “2nd Year Fellowship” in the email subject line).
The following documents must accompany your complete application form:
- All students:
- ID document (certified copy),
- Current Grade 12/ Matric students:
- Recent colour photograph (passport size),
- Final Grade 10 report (certified copy),
- Final Grade 11 report (certified copy),
- Latest Grade 12 report if available (certified copy),
- Letter of reference from a teacher (signed, stamped and sealed in a separate envelope),
- Academic or extra-curricular awards/ recognition achieved in Grade 10-12 (certified copies).
- Current 1st year and 2nd students:
- June exam results of current year (certified copy),
- Final Grade 12 report (certified copy),
- Letter of reference from a teacher/ faculty rep (signed, stamped and sealed in a separate envelope),
- Academic or extra-curricular awards/ recognition achieved in Grade 10 to current (certified copies).
