Advice For SASSA Card Holders
- The Ownership of the Account Matters: A bank account payment, like Capitec Bank, requires that you own the account. Grants cannot be deposited into another person’s account by SASSA.
- Register your phone number:Be sure that the mobile phone number registered to receive SMS notifications is yours if you choose to transfer money through a major South African bank. SASSA pays grants only to phone numbers associated with rightful recipients.
- Timing of verification: Note that the updated banking details are effective for future payments after verification has been completed. SASSA establishes a secure connection between your bank and the SASSA payment system during the verification process, which takes about 30 days. As soon as this process is completed, you will be notified.
