Does Psira certificate expire? For the first time, the PSiRA Certificate has an expiry date (18 months for security officers and 12 months for security businesses). It is in the best interest of the public for the authority to promote public safety through effective regulation of the private security industry.
How do I get a certificate? Private security operators have to apply for registration through the director of PSIRA. You can download PSIRA registration forms from the website, print and fill offline. The duly filled forms should be accompanied by the necessary supporting documents depending on the nature of the business.

The individual must:
Be at least 18-years-old.
Be a permanent South African resident.
Not have a criminal record, specifically related to the scheduled criminal offenses listed in the Private Security Industry Regulation Act.
Have completed the PSIRA training at an accredited training center.
